Oliver Twist is a tiny, poor boy. I think he is about 7 years old and he lives on an orphanage because his mum died when she gave birth to him. One day Oliver and some of the other kids draw straw about who was going to ask for more food at dinner. Oliver lost and had to ask for more soap. The men on the orphanage got very angry and decided to sell Oliver. A chimney sweep wanted to buy him, but Oliver got very sad because he didn’t want to go with that ugly man. So another man from the orphanage took Oliver to a family, but they weren’t very nice to him and they had a boy who said bad things about Oliver’s mother. So Oliver escaped from the family and walked for 7 days to get to London. When he finally arrived a boy told him to come with him. The boy’s name was The Artful Dodger and he was a thief. He took Oliver to a place with a lot of kids and they were all thieves. They had a leader, an old man named Fagin. He was a joker and very strange but Oliver thought he was quite nice to him. The Artful Dodger and a boy called Charlie teached Oliver how to be a good thief and one day they went to town to steel some things, but they got caught by a man from the bookshop and he thought it was Oliver who had stolen. Everyone tried to catch Oliver and he tried to escape, but he ran into a man and knocked himself out. The police took him and they were going to decide what to do with him. But the man from the bookshop said that Oliver was innocent.
The man was called Mr Brownlow and he and Mrs Bedwin took care of Oliver. One day Mr Brownlow said that he needed to take some books to the bookshop but Oliver insisted to do it for him. When Oliver where downtown Nancy came and pretended to be Oliver’s sister, he was screaming for help but everyone just thought he had been a naughty boy. So Nancy and Bill Sykes took Oliver back to Fagin and he wanted to make sure that Oliver didn’t run away so he locked him into a filthy room.
Bill told Fagin that they needed the boy to finally be able to do the robbery on the big house in town, he said that the window was to small for any of the other kids. So Bill and some other men took Oliver with them to the big house that Oliver suddenly recognised, it was Mr Browlow’s house. Bill forced Oliver to go inside, if he didn’t Bill threatened to shoot him. Oliver was supposed to go to the front door and open it, but he tried to go upstairs instead to warn Mr Brownlow, but he was already awake and saw that someone was in his house, so he fired his own gun and accidently hit Oliver in the arm. Bill shot his gun to and one of the other men took Oliver with them. When they ran away Bill slipped and fell into the river. The man who carried Oliver took him back to Fagin who helped Oliver with his wound.
Bill survived, but he got a terrible fever so Nancy had to take care of him. When Bill got better he told Fagin that they had to kill the boy because they were worried that Oliver was going to tell anyone about their secret, and Fagin agreed. When Nancy heard about their plan she got very worried because she didn’t think it was fare. So she wanted to meet Mr Brownlow at midnight, at a bridge to tell him about everything. But Bill wanted to know why she was going out so late, so he didn’t let her go. Fagin was worried about what Nancy was up to, so he put The Artful Dodger to keep an eye on Nancy for him. And one night Nancy went out and met Mr Brownlow and she told him about Fagin and his little gang of thieves, she told him about what they were going to do with Oliver.
But Nancy’s plan didn‘t work out because The Artful Dodger had followed her, so he ran as quick as he could and told Fagin and Bill about it. Bill got very angry and ran to his place, where he found Nancy and he hit her to death. But Mr Brownlow had told the police and both Fagin and Bill Sykes were now wanted. So Fagin, his gang and Oliver had to move and they found an attic were they hid. Bill Sykes had a white dog who always were around him, but the dog didn’t like what Bill had done to Nancy so he ran away to some people and then he led them to Bill. Bill ran to the attic where Fagin hided, and soon the Police stood outside. Bill took Oliver in his arms and started to climb out on the roof, he said ”If you shoot, then I drop the boy!”
Bill and Oliver climbed from roof to roof and the Police followed. But when they came to a river, Bill had to take a rope and swing over to the other side and when he did that, he accidetly hanged himself.
The police took Fagin to the prison and Oliver moved in with Mr Brownlow. One day Oliver went to visit Fagin, because he still cared about the crazy old man, but Fagin had turned even more crazy. Fagin told Oliver about the treasure he had collected and he said that he wanted Oliver to have it. And then Oliver lived happily ever after!
